Sr. Regulatory Specialist

We are seeking a Senior Regulatory Specialist who will play a critical role in ensuring full compliance with global food regulations while supporting innovation across the business. This position provides strategic regulatory guidance from early product development through commercialization. Key responsibilities include developing and submitting regulatory documentation, advising on labeling, ingredient requirements, and product claims, and partnering closely with cross-functional teams to support compliant product launches. This role ensures that all products meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory integrity.

Responsibilities

Regulatory & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with global food regulations (FDA, USDA, EFSA, Codex, etc.).

  • Oversee quality processes related to customer requirements.

  • Respond to customer inquiries on compliance for export, product formulations, and recipes.

  • Prepare and manage questionnaires for new and existing products.

  • Maintain and update ingredient and finished product specifications.

  • Manage customer portals and ensure accurate documentation.

Labeling & Packaging:

  • Ensure packaging labels meet regulatory requirements across US & Canada as well as different markets and customers.

  • Validate composition certificates, ingredient lists, nutritional values, codes, and other mandatory information.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with Sales, R&D, Quality Assurance, and Packaging teams to ensure compliance and timely delivery.

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior regulatory team members.

  • Act as a subject matter expert for regulatory and labeling requirements, supporting cross-functional teams.

  • Lead initiatives to improve regulatory processes and ensure best practices are implemented.

  • Represent the regulatory function in meetings, influencing decisions and driving compliance strategies.

What you bring

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or a related field (Bachelor’s or Master’s).

  • 5+ years of experience in Regulatory and/or Quality roles within the food industry.

  • Strong administrative skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Proactive, responsible, and able to take initiative.

  • Critical thinker with a keen eye for compliance and quality.

  • Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Skills:

  • Experience with Canadian and / or European Food Regulations.

  • Experience with protein and snack bars
