R&D Manager
A Day in the Life
The R&D Manager works with Customers, Sales, and other resources to develop new and innovative food products that can be manufactured by EMPWR USA inc.
Responsibilities
Directs and assists Food Scientists and R&D Technicians with projects.
Ensures that all existing products are carefully documented, so these products can be ordered and manufactured by the EMPWR USA Inc. production facility.
Aid in creation of SOPs.
Documents findings by developing information systems; preparing reports, and keeps the data base up to date with new product information as well as any new ingredients.
Protects Intellectual Properties by developing and enforcing research and development confidentiality policies.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Provide support to manufacturing on new production startup.
Aid production during start up and production runs to improve manufacturing process, efficiency, and scrap rate.
Assist Supply Chain to find and evaluate new suppliers to minimize raw material cost.
Work closely with Quality and manufacturing to set Bar Profiles during new product and subsequent launches.
Provide R&D feedback that comes from customer complaints.
What you Bring
BS/MS degree in a Food Science or related field, with a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible management positions in senior level operating and/or general management positions in nutritional supplement, pharmaceutical, or food industries.
Ability to communicate effectively through email and conversation with all levels of personnel within the company.
Must be able to prioritize projects and recognize deficiencies in paperwork. Decision making abilities required.
Able to provide constructive direction/ advice to others in senior management while maintaining a professional demeanor.
Assertive personality, capable of supporting an unpopular decision when faced with conflicting viewpoints
Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in non-standard situations.
Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing and packaging processes.
Must be able to handle high stress, fast paced, high-energy environment.
Ability to read, write, and speak English. Other languages such as Spanish a plus.
